Um, as far as I understand it, it's a contradiction...as it is made out of his baby blanket, and supposedly is as super as the man himself, which is why it never just dissolves off his body when he does super stuff...but the Kent's sew it for him...can withstand bullets and lava and reentry into the atmosphere, but can't stand up to pinking sheers and a Singer made in the 40s.

I thought the whole indestructible suit explanation was retconed, with the explanation for why his suit is rarely damaged now being because his body emits a protective aura around itself, thus also explaining how he lifts huge objects which should collapse under their own weight or catch someone while moving at super speed without making them go splat.
Anyway, maybe I'm used to the small S from Superman Returns, but the S on this suit looks too big to me.

n-d I hadn't ever heard of that...but I'm not big into SoupyMan...and CroutonBoy!...although I had wondered about the lack of splat when rescuing at high speed...I just went with superhero stories require a bit of suspension of disbelief.

How's his accent doing? That's the most important question for Man of Steel. I'm a fan of his acting, and frankly, British actors doing American accents seem to have no trouble with it (unlike the reverse—Anne Hathaway in the trailer for One Day is giving me the heebie-jeebies), but I still wonder.
What if it's a Daniel Craig-in-Cowboys-&-Aliens?

I didn't know Snyder was directing, now I can ignore this movie entirely without a single thought that I may be missing out. And the suit makes much more sense now that I know the same man that made 300 is calling the shots.

When it comes to getting a fix for my addiction to violence I would rather go to Tony Jaa or Takashi Miike. The rare hand to hand fight in The Mechanic was much more impressive than anything in 300, CG and sweaty men in loin clothes to not amount to the same thing.

Odouls, I have to agree with you. Zack Snyder is definitely a guilty pleasure, emphasis on guilty. I have fun watching his flicks, but I wouldn't call them good. Although I actually enjoyed some of the plot changes that were made in his Watchmen; one or two major problems I had with the comic were absent in the film. Not sure if Snyder gets the credit for that, though. Haven't checked who wrote the screenplay.
AchillesHeel, the only Miike films I've seen were mostly just endless streams of horrific, cringe-inducing, gory violence. Tempered only with pretentious art-school level surrealism. Am I missing something? What is Miike's best film in your opinion?

I just recently watched his latest film 13 Assassins, its streaming on netflix. Particular scenes certainly warrant your critique but the movie has a great overall plot reminiscent of Seven Samurai.

Augh, that's a Miike?? I didn't notice. Netflix recommended 13 Assassins to me and it's been waiting in my queue. Well... I'll give it a try.
Just to be clear, Snyder's films are bloody and violent as hell. But the Miike films I remember had gore and violence more on the level of a movie like Hostel, which is just not my cup of tea.
(Plus the surrealist crap, which for me was the last straw.)

Snyder is all about the CG and green screen, that is not gory by my definition. Paying a professional horror make-up person for three weeks to produce a head on stick is gory, or the wall of tar people in Bones where it really was all real people and various body parts writhing around in choreographed anarchy. Snyder has nothing on the fake cadaver for Turistas, he should really just make music videos as those are always his best scenes.
You probably wouldn't like Audition (not a Miike btw) even I turned that one off. Creepy does not begin to define that movie.

here, because I am about to discuss some pretty graphic violence. Sorry.
The gore bounces constantly back and forth from somewhat realistic and intensely cringe-worthy (one that sticks with me was a woman's nipples being sliced off) to completely over the top and still disgusting and cringe-worthy (such as people being symmetrically bisected in great detail.) It was a painful film to watch, and so much of the gore and violence seemed really unnecessary.

Well, perhaps the suit is designed to appeal more to the female/gay/etc demographic.
Because looking at that picture I was like - 'Arms!' and then 'Ooo, gosh.' Hopefully there will at least be some jokes about it in the movie for those who are less, er, impressed.
Lets just say that I'm amazed that he can still fly with that thing weighing him down.

There are alot of women and gay men who refer 300 as their porn. Like I said before, knowing that Snyder is in charge makes the suit make sense.

Most likely is that DC comics made the decision first and DC productions followed suit.
That Justice League #1 (source of manji's pic) was dreadful by the way, if the majority of the new 52 are of that quality I will be saving a lot of money.
