Just got a nice letter from Dr. Schmidt tonight, telling me he is buying "Outbound" for ANALOG SCIENCE FICTION & FACT.
"Outbound" was my Q1 Finalist for WOTF vol. XXVI and I am so thrilled beyond belief that "Outbound" has a professional home now. Especially one so well-regarded as ANALOG. I was hoping so much, and tonight, I got my wish.
2nd pro sale too. Two months after getting word of my WOTF win. Novelette length, too, which is saying something considering I am not a Name and this is one of the digests. Not bad for a newbie in the biz, if I do say so myself. (grin)

Yeah, hard to believe I got the score, so soon after the WOTF win.
Do I think my WOTF history helped me get out of the slush and get Stan's notice? You betcha! I don't think I'd have made it with Stan if I hadn't had the Finalist(s) and the win. So never give up on the Contest.

Thanks, all! Yeah, feels like a very important sale. Important market, important second success so close to my first, and best of all -- from the viewpoint of my wife the Business Manager of the house -- important money.

Since he's hasn't yet come 'round to mention it, I will...Outbound is out, in the November 2010 issue of Analog. Pick up a copy.

Yup, I read it, just this morning. Pretty good. A couple of quibbles, but that's neither here nor there...and, really, this isn't the place to bring them up.

....I got a $245 check in the mail today, because they're exercising the clause for an anthology. It appears this story will be in a ten-year retrospective e-anthology from Analog, to be published on the Kindle. W00T!

Outbound was a great story and is anthology-worthy. Double congrats. Sounds like drinks are on Brad!
