Hey, sndrake, I'm older than Bob.
Well, I was careful to say I was one of the oldest people around here...

rivka, trying to be helpful:

sndrake, I've always been partial to the word "antediluvian" -- it just rolls off the tongue.
[Smile]

It may roll off, but it just is not in the same league as "OTB." [Razz]

I, apparently, am a baby. But I think I'm old. Yup.

Actually, what's really odd today, I just found out that two people I graduated with and who married each other after graduation, are expecting a kid. [Eek!]

But OTB can be confused easily with ODB--which means Ol' Dirty Bastard. *snicker*

So did my parents. I'm WAY behind. But I'm in no way at all ready for children. Way too big of a responsibility. And being married? Ack. Same thing. So not ready. I still suck at sharing [Wink]

[Smile] Yep - like in New York state, where I grew up.

Youngsters. [Roll Eyes]

Don't you know the value of a set-up?

I refer to myself here in Hatrack as "OTB" and someone asks, all confused "huh, Off Track Betting??"

And I reply "no. it stands for 'Older than Bob'."

Sweet. [Cool]

Well, in terms of managing kids and all that stuff...you'd think I'd be pretty well prepared.

But SO not ready. There's a reason why I like coming home from work to no kids.

I work with them. 'Nuff for me to realize "Oh, don't want THEM yet."

Best birth control EVER.

Holy cr@p!!! Ralphie posted!!!!

:happydance:

OTB...I like it.

I really needed a dose of Dana today. Of course it's her busiest workday, but I called anyway just to say Hi!

Too bad I was on my dying cell phone in a windstorm.

Mack...I have always been selfish. The weird thing is, when you find someone you want to share with, it sort of evaporates, you know?

So, I just think when you're ready it'll happen. And until then, you can work to accumulate cool stuff that you can use to ensnare your true love.

Bright shiny objects...trust me on this.

Hmm.

I'm also bringing Scrabble.

I have all the cool toys 'cause I work with kids.

Hmmm.

Bob, Ralphie did indeed post today. In fact I was so shocked that I started a thread about it. Nobody has replied to it, though.

Bright shiny objects...trust me on this.

Bob, maybe I'm wrong, but could the bright, shiny objects you're talking about be diamonds? If not, forget I brought it up.

See, now this is why you never announce that you're dating on your online forum. You get all this!

When's the wedding!!???
Can I be in the wedding!???
If you guys have kids, will you name one of them after me!???
If you guys get married, where will you live!??
Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera...

By the way... If there's a wedding, can I be in it?? [Evil Laugh]

...seriously.

I will remind people that we haven't even dated yet.

Sheesh! No pressure, eh?

So, you're thinking like dinner & a movie and then I'll just ask Dana to marry me?

Bob_S... don't tempt God like that, especially in a thread like this. [Wink] It could happen. It wouldn't be a bad thing, mind you. It just fits into the whole sense of humor thing so well. But, you two have good heads on your shoulders.

fallow... Ralphie is the forum Hawtie Goddess Extraordinaire (Is that the proper spelling for "hawtie"?) and keeper of the Hatrack Foobonic Pics. There are others on this forum that could do her description far more justice than I could. Alas, she's been on sabbatical. Only the most extraordinary of things (such as this news) can summon her presence.

Oh, you'd also have to be a member of either Dana's religion or mine. Mine's easier -- automatic membership and NO particular requirements for what you believe.

Unfortunately, our success rate of getting people into heaven is a big unknown.

edit to add the "NO"

No!! Wasn't me! Honest!!

Really, I'll sit back and enjoy the ride vicariously. I should have been a little more explicit - I think some of the other Hatrackers aren't real fussy about the order.

And I'm the wrong gender to belong in that group!

I'm sorry but I just don't see the problem with this plan.

Unlike some other people, I'm not greedy, I would just like a nice invitation to the wedding. And airfare of course.
