I love how I'm reading this and yet I don't even know how to play chess for real. I just try moves till the computer lets me do something.

I will move very soon. My new position came with an old pile of paperwork that had not been reviewed for the last month. Can't complain much; it's from my supervisor who recommended me for the position and whose brother just died of cancer.

I'm sure you're setting me up somehow, but at this point I don't care. Today was my birthday, and as I sat on the floor readying to open a present, two of my dogs got into a "disagreement" over a chew toy and my pinky finger got in the way. It didn't get severed, but let's just say the bone was exposed. Now it's time for another Loratab (which is probably the real reason I don't care about being set up).

It's my fault. I can't visualize positions, I need an old fashioned chess board set up and I haven't had one nearby while online for awhile. Out on business again. Using public internet. You know how it is.

Zero, don't take all the blame. I've been on a couple of vacations and have also been delayed due to work and other bizarre situations.

Yeah you're right, it's our game. If we don't mind being patient with each other to heck with everyone else!

Someone thinks the chess engine cheats? I can't open the article but, if it's serious, it makes me raise a skeptical eyebrow. I have no trouble beating chess titans on its hardest difficulty at least half of the time.
It can't hold a candle to real chess software like fritz and chessmaster.

i was sugesting that you play human on human and move the peces accordandly and save after every move. its easer to visualize the game that way.

The last time I had a pocket chess computer, I found I could beat it on the lower levels...but if I played it any higher, it took longer to make a move than Zero and philocinemas are.

Yeah that's because the computer is searching for all the positions it can imagine and rating them by point value. The faster a computer the faster it can do this, and the slower... you get the point.
And since subsequent positions increase exponentially....

I just got back from my hike around the globe, and I see this game is still going on.
This past weekend gave me a renewed interest in chess. While cleaning out my office on Saturday, I found an old chess set I forgot I had. My kids asked if I would teach them how to play, so I did. Now, they're hooked. My two sons even missed most of the US - Canada hockey game last night so they could play a few more games.
I'm sure I'll get challenged to a game when I get home tonight. I'll tell them I'm too busy watching The Thrilla in Chessilla.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions, but I'm sure you are devising something diabolical for me, so you'll probably be OK.

Oddly enough I had a dream that involved me coming to this site in two years and this game was still around. With the occassional "bump" from you, philo.
Sorry for the long waits. And sorry that I cannot move today (I know Monday's my move day) but tomorrow looks hopeful.

Sorry, I haven't had Internet for a few days. I've looked over my position, and I suspect I know our next series of moves. I've got too much going on at work right now, so I'm going to go ahead and concede. Congratulations again.
