Obviously he deleted all his posts in the Da-Vinci code, and now he deleted his own thread about us being mean to newbies. What exactly did happen ? Kat ? AJ ? Somenone ?

I think he/she claimed to be a recent convert to the LDS Church, and kat several times expressed her doubts that he/she was in fact LDS. (I could definitely see why, by the way.) I guess he/she took offense.

I didn't see anything rude in what kat posted. Not that my opinion matters. But I think both she and AJ showed some considerable restraint against someone who was trying to be deliberately rude to them.

I would do a search but I don't know his number, and i'm to lazy to check all off the numbers after 6000 to see if they're him.

More than once I was tempted to denounce OSC-fan as a troll, but I decided against it. This n00b doesn't want to be *too* brash.

Belle : neither did I, about AJ and kat. Since I can't read OSC-fan posts I can't say about his. But I don't see AJ signal a post that wouldn't be really rude.

As I said before. I'd had enough. I blew the whistle on him. I've been on the forum for nearly two years, and never had encountered someone as seemingly duplicitous.
I explained in detail that I had no hard evidence of OSC-fan truly violating the TOS, however the person was representing themself as a female older-middle aged recent LDS convert. Several of the things that were actually posted by that same person did not ring true to this, in anyway.
Genuine LDS members doubted the persons veracity, and this person responded rudely. The person had been insulting to me on occasion as well as now branching out and being rude to others. Many gentle suggestions were made and none were acknowledged. No actual facts were given for spurious claims on a number of subjects and then many other honest good souled jatraqueros had to spend time de-bunking fallacies. Though some were so bad that we let them go.
There were instances of several other screen names posting around OSC-fan that also had no info in their profile, though they were of varying registration dates, some as old as October of last year. One of those posted a "goodbye" thread after four or five posts. The entire hatrack attitude was "and why should we care".
I don't know who was trying to dupe whom, but things were definitely rotten in Denmark.
OSC shouldn't have advertised his online community in the acknowledgements of Crystal City. (That's why I joined.) You old-sters weren't ready for the huge influx of newbies.
It's better if folks just discover this place on their own, and not come in expecting smiley-faced, rolly-polly Mooses and Squirrels from OSC fiction-land.

Then evidently, AJ, you have not crossed paths with the infamous TomDavidson, leader of the secret jatraquero liberal cabal, who revisits his posts and edits them to make subsequent posters look stupid!
...or you've just never seen Cedrios.

AJ, that's what I said. I don't know what happened exactly, but I trust you not to signal a post that wouldn't deserve to be.

In all seriousness, I'm not sure. Now that the posts are gone, I can't go over them again.
I think it was the sense of antagonism. In the posts, it felt like the church was the enemy, a stranger - something to fight, but not something understood. For active LDS, that's very, very rare. For those who were active and are having doubts, fighting with the church like a divorce. It is anything but impersonal. For those who are recent converts, why would you get baptized feeling that way? Self-identifying as Mormon but treating the church as the enemy just didn't feel right, but if you know the board, posing as LDS does (I admit) give...leeway to ask questions that are rude otherwise. It fit.

BTW, I joined because an advertising in an OSC book (one of the Alvin Maker I think). So I wouldn't tell him not to do it... I mean, trolls will leave one day or another, and we gain a number of cool people. I like Derrel who is relatively new for exemple.

It's funnny, I never though about OSC-fan as a woman either .I didn't look in his/her profile, but it was obvious to me he was a he. Sometimes I just don't know (sorry fiazco I know I called you he sometimes) but I was sure about him.

He also mentioned it, and Papa Moose, in one of the Ender or Bean books. That's why I joined.

Thanks Anna. I think you're cool, too. As for OSC-Fan, he wasn't very cool. I've made some newbie mistakes, but try to learn from them so I don't repeat them. OSC-Fan didn't seem to want to listen to anybody's ideas but his own.

That's why he would have leaved one day or another. When you don't want to communicate but just say what you think, you don't stay in Hatrack. BTW, will we ever heal from the Cedrios psychose ? (Oh, and thank you Derrell)
