Ok, time to get back to the ever popular new and bumpable daily lunch special. What ever office person looks forward to starting around 9:00 or so and what helps cause many afternoon sleepy yawns. So let’s get it done and figure out what we’ll be doing for lunch. By figuring out what we’ll be eating we can be more productive! Excellent!
So… me… after a weekend in Tampa to run their half marathon with my cousin, I’m pretty hungry. And of course I haven’t had my Shop and Save deli fix for about 5 days now. So I’m hoping for a couple of BLT’s and maybe a donut.

I'm going to run up to Reston Town Center and go to Panera for lunch, get a nice bowl of broccoli and cheese soup and a turkey panini.

Jay, when I visit my grandmother, we talk about what we are having for lunch while we are eating breakfast, about dinner when we are eating lunch. This thread reminds me of that.

Hmmm... I haven't decided on lunch yet -- what do you suggest?

Keep in mind that we are currently getting heavy sleet/ice/snow outside, so I don't feel like venturing very far.

Maybe just a cup of soup in the cafeteria...

I like a lot of vegetarian foods, but nothing that imitates something else. I hated veggie burgers until I stopped thinking of them as horrible burgers and started thinking of them as yummy vegetable patties.

Would it help if you think of it as tempeh with a smoked flavor? Cause that's what it really is.

I don't eat bacon, but this tastes good as a fake BLT. [Smile]

I think what made me question all vegetarians was when I saw the ToFurkey (tofu shaped into a thanksgiving turkey). At that point, I decided that vegetarians were crazy.

Well, by the time I made it to the cafeteria, just before they closed, they barely had any soup left. I had a half-a-cup of vegetable soup (the dregs at the bottom of the pot).

So I treated myself to a slice of apple pie, too!

Lunch for today. 2-9-05
Let's see.... Want soemthing big. We're having a weight loss competition in my running group with the weigh in tomorrow evening. So I 've got a few days to pack some weight on! I'm thinking the 2 piece chicken dinner with two sides from Shop and Save will do the trick. Fun!
So.... How about you?
Fun!

Ralph and I are supposed to go to Chipotle, but I forgot my wallet. :/ Which doesn't mean I'm not going to go, it just means I have to put up with his glee that he gets to pay without a fight. We have kinda a game going on when we lunch together where we each try to sneak paying for both of us without the other noticing.

*blink* Really?

The contents of my IM window this morning:
(edited to remove boring work stuff)

quote:

Ralph says:
Good morning
Liza says:
Yes and no.
Ralph says:
Yes first please
Liza says:
I worked out this morning! And shoveled my sidewalk. I feel great.
Ralph says:
You are my hero
Ralph says:
and the no?
Liza says:
The no is I forgot my wallet.
Ralph says:
I gets to buy lunch?
Liza says:
*grumble* Either that or I starve, yeah.
Ralph says:
My day just got better
Liza says:
Glad I could help.
Liza says:
I'll try to be gracious about it, even.

So what is the relationship here between Ralph and Liza? This might help make sense of the underlying flirtatious bill paying.

edit: oops.... added an A

(psst It's Liza, not Liz, Jay)

Chiptole is a national chain owned by the McDonald's clan.

As I understand it (and please someone correct me if I'm wrong), but Chipotle is a chain owned by McDonald's. I've never been there, but I did hear about there. IIRC, they specialize in burritos that run in the 1200-2000 calorie range. [Big Grin]

Oh, and my lunch will be a black bean burger and a salad. mm mm good.

I get the tacos or salad bowls. The burritos are way too big.

Ralph is my best work friend. We eat lunch together M-W-F, usually. The stealing checks thing works out to be even over time, it's just amusing. So while it may seem like a flirtatious relationship, it is not.

Chipotle started out as a small chain of their own that got gobbled up by the corporate demon that is McDonalds. I've never been to one myself but I've been told that the food is mediocre. 'Course, I've got access to much better Mexican if I really have a crave for it LOL

This evening is the weigh in for my running group’s Hash House Harrier Big Hound Slim Down. So….. I’m thinking I need an extra big lunch. Maybe a Hardee’s Monster Thick Burger! Yeah Buddy! Which is conveniently across from Shop and Save where I could get a nice desert too!
