sorry, only got one. One! I hear you get more if you're diligent about using your invites, though.
I didn't want to send one off into the wild blue yonder without knowing it would get used, thus the tossing in of the invite at the first one who showed themselves to be awake.
We probably should make an updated list of folks who need one, and edit them out when they're covered.

Thanks Suneun, I got it. I haven't gotten any invites yet though.
And on Suneun's suggestion, here's a list of everyone that wants a gmail account that hasn't gotten one yet and their e-mail:

Tell me if you want one but are not on the list or if you are on the list but have already recieved an invite.

I haven't read through this entire thread, so I'm not exactly sure what the deal is with who's on who's list, but I'd love to be put on someone's wait list if there aren't any invitations currently available.
Ok, put me on the list too, please. I want to see what the fuss is about, and I will be needing to transfer a bunch of stuff from this computer in a month.

rivka, unfortunately it seems that gmail has a 10 mb cap on attachments, so you can't use it for storage as easily as one might hope.

That'll still work pretty well. It's mostly Word files I need to transfer. Thanks for the heads up, though!

Just one thing for those who post their e-mail addresses: change them to the format alath used in the list. Otherwise, if you let your address in clear, some program might pick it up and you'll find yourself flooded with spam.
That's all folks. I'm going back to enjoying my 1000MB gmail account !

I just got another Gmail invite to hand out. Did everyone get one that wanted one? Someone want this one? If so, let me know at the e-mail address in my profile and I'll send it to you.

By the way, I got one gmail invite, which for obvious reasons I gave to Annie, but any more I get I'm just going to post them here and let people e-mail me for them.

Woohoo! I got back on. I was panicked because I changed my e-mail address in my Hatrack profile, and when I did that, it logged me off Hatrack and would't let me back on! What a distressing hour!

I've been using my account quite regularly for a almost a week now, but haven't received an invites.
As soon as I get one, I'll reciprocate.
But even though Tom has probably stopped reading this thread, I want to comment on why it's so cool.
1. The messages displayed as conversations feature totally rocks. It's esp. nice for the listservs I'm on. I thought it would be distracting, but it's nice to go back and re-read portions of previous messages. For those who haven't seen it yet -- you only see the text of the most recent message -- the previous messages are displayed as little tabs. You can expand the conversation to show all the messages. Or click on the tabs to look at individual ones.
I love this feature for my private e-mail conversations as well. I no longer have to search my sent box or in box to figure out if I've already mentioned something, etc.
2. At first I wasn't sure if I liked the archive idea because it kicks the messages into a place where you don't immedietely 'see' them. But now I love it -- it keeps my inbox clean. For example, with the listserv, if I'm not interested in replying to a particular conversational thread, I simply archive it after reading the latest posts. If someone else posts after I've archived it, it pops back up in my inbox with the new message -- plus the rest of the conversation.
3. At first I was a little perturbed that you couldn't create individual folders. But as I started using the "tags," I realized that they are even better. The tags essentially act as a folder. You can click on a tag to see all the messages in that "folder." But the cool thing is that you can have messages with that "tag" in your inbox. No need to remember to check various folders for messages you want to read or reply to. Keep them in your inbox until you do what you want to do with them. Archive those you don't want displayed in your inbox.
And of course, just like with folders, you can set up filters so that tags are slapped on messages that contain certain properties.
4. The search function is much quicker than Outlook, Eudora, Yahoo! or Hotmail.
Finally, there is one thing that I don't like -- you can't save drafts of your messages.

When they first sent me an invite to send out, I didn't even notice it! Because it doesn't come as an e-mail - it just appears on your gmail page as a link. The link goes away when you don't have any more to send out. It appears above the listing of mail.

It seems to have absolutely nothing to do with how much you use it. I have two accounts, one which I've been using extensively, and one with an inbox which has remained totally empty. Guess which one got an invite.

Just updated the list. It would've been done sooner but my internet's been down. Three days without Hatrack has not been fun.

Invite recieved, and account created. Many thanks (you never know what sneaky person will take Feyd Baron E-mail addresses). Glad there wasn't any Phoenix favoritism in there or anything, that would have been a shame.
So, my name can come off the list, and I'll wait patiently for some invites.

added Imogen to the list and put the 36 in Pajeba's address as well as taking the invited people off.

Thanks slacker. I didn't see the second one until after I'd set up the account using the first invite. I put in my information and it created the account does that pose a problem?
