I went to an open skate night here at Cornell, and your song was on the speakers as part of the music mix. Wow, man. Congrats!

At my kids' school on Friday, the whole school sang Candlelight during their Kabbalat Shabbat. And when I came home Friday afternoon from work, my kids were singing the song.

Imitation: the sincerest form of flattery. But they were sort of putting the "flat" in "flattery"...

Just wondering, did I miss where Armoth explained the significance of the astronaut? I watched the Matisyahu cover (awesome, btw!) and that video had an astronaut as well.

Elsewhere (including the link CT supplied above) it said that member of the group is from Houston.

That was hilarious reading. We better protect Armoth, he's far too eligible now. Some shiksa might steal him away from us!

I saw that comment and its what prompted my question. It seemed like a good answer but I wasn't sure if it was the real one or just a guess.

Shanna, it's hard to find the coverage from before the new video, but there was an article last year (two years ago?) that talked about where each of the members was from, and I do think one was from Houston.

yup. That's pretty much the reason. Not an Ilan Ramon reference, although if people want to read that in, they're free to do that
Noey Jacobson is indeed from Houston

There are about 142,000 hits for candlelight maccabeats on Google. That's pretty darn impressive.

BTW CT, the site is not I'm A Mother (although that is the implied pun). It's Ima Mother -- Ima (pronounced ee-mah) is Hebrew for "mother".

Now you've made me register onto Colbert Nation....
If you do go on the Report/Daily Show please be sure to plug Hatrack and hint something along the lines that it would be really great if Orson wrote Shadows In Flight sometime this century

There's an obvious solution to this. The problem, as I see it, is that OSC has pretty much given up signing tours. He almost never does signings anymore outside his home state or ones directly adjacent. (See this month's list, for instance.)
So what you need is Maccabeats fans in NC who want to bring y'all out for some event in NC that coincides with an OSC signing.

Any idea as to why? I'ld have thought he would've been constantly going to ComicCon's at the very least and I've been hoping he'ld visit montreal for years.

4 years ago, OSC wrote about a group called "Straight No Chaser" that pretty much inspired me to commit as much as I did to my acapella group. SNC became really popular with a famous Christmas medley (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Fe11OlMiz8). It's insane to be here 4 years later...

Have you been to a book signing? It seems like something that would get really boring, really fast. Since Card has done hundreds of them, I can't imagine they're still fun to him. Maybe his reasons are totally different, but that would be my thought.

I think he actually enjoys the signings themselves (although they are exhausting). The traveling all over takes time and energy away from his family and his writing, and he told his publisher several years back he wasn't going to do it anymore.
It makes me sad that he doesn't do signings in L.A. anymore (it used to be one of the usual stops almost every tour), but I can completely understand the choice.

1) That forum is full of religious, Jewish, women. 2) Armoth is hardly likely to date a non-Jew.
I had misconceptions. I was told a long time ago that a Shiksa is just Yiddish for female, but your post has since sent to wikipedia where I learned that it means a female gentile woman, or a nonobservant Jewish female.
Now my joke isn't as funny.
