Yeah, cause anyone getting a package from Poland would have a hard time figuring out who it's from

Okay, I've done it. It's limited, but it's there. My Amazon wish list. Unfortunately, I'm so out of the loop on current books that I have no idea what I'd like in terms of fiction. I'll browse around tomorrow when I'm not so tired and I'll add to it. I'm a sci-fi girl, but between hubby and I, we have such a large collection of books that books released more than a year ago are difficult - we may or may not already have them. But from the last year - we definitely don't have them!
Also, I'm LDS so no tea/coffee/alcohol. Chocolate, on the other hand, is always welcome in our house, especially the good quality stuff which is really really hard to come by here. Chocolate chips are also welcome - can't buy them here. Um.
If you need ideas, you can email my hubby at fahim at farook dot org. Not that he'll necessarily know, but he may discretely pump me for info.
Something regional from where ever you are would be good, be it literature or whatever. I LOVE learning about other places, people, cultures. LOVE.
I don't know what else to suggest. Does that help?
As for Katie, I have some ideas. . . Now I just have to get . . . Tee hee!!!!

crafty things, kitchen/baking supplies, candy, chocolate, books (duh) -- even if we have it, it would be fun if you write something in the cover, board and card games, ornaments, anything hand made (although the time limit might prevent that) or anything that has a story behind it.
No worries, this is fun! I'll love whatever you get!

Regional cookbooks, bread cookbooks. Foodstuffs from the giftor's region, ie: barbeque sauces, honeys, spreads... Really just something that is indicative of your home turf.

I like candlight dinners, cuddling and walks on the beach.... Oh wait - this isn't a personal ad!
I love cooking/baking, music, dark chocolate, candles and incense, and frogs (especially my little acquatic ones). I like sewing, computer games, herbal tea (please no coffee, liquor, or black/green tea), and gardening. Here's one of my wishlists to get my taste in movies, music, books, etc. I like just about anything music-wise, though my tolerance for country and rap are low. I also dislike excessive gore and gratuitous sex/violence. My favorite color is green (with blue being runner-up). I don't tend to like pink or orange.
My current obsessions are Firefly, World of Warcraft, and decorating/organizing our new house. Previous recent obsessions include Masssive Attack, Trigun, and Juno Reactor.
You could correspond with slacker (my husband) if you need ideas or just want to bounce some off someone who knows me well.

That would be a lovely present, Grisha. Although the longer it's been, the more I'm sure I'm going to look awful in those pictures.

If you're playing and you got your e-mail but haven't told me, please let me know so I can stop the nervous slinkie-fiddling.
There a few people who have expressed intrest in still playing, and one person whose e-mail address no longer works. If you want to play, send it in and we'll have Round Two. :)It has to be very, very soon, though.

I'm not posting the wish list for the present (since that's been discussed and I like surprises), but just in case anyone wants to bribe me for information and/or cookies, I can be bought. Wish List

I want the Ender's Game Mouse Pad that is always advertised at the top of this window. But I'm not in on the Christmas exchange, and don't plan to be, so I guess I will have to leave hints for my kids...

My Amazon wish list has a bunch of books that either I've read and don't have any more or haven't read yet but I like the author's other books.
I am LDS, so (as others have mentioned) no coffee/tea/alcohol. Chocolate is always welcome (except white chocolate). I like flavored hot chocolate mix.
Food items are good - especially if there is a regional specialty where you are from. Anything that reflects your location or is made in your location would be good. As an example, I participated in an exchange (on another forum) last year and gave the person a potpourri pie. It was made from bread dough or something similar, with a little pie tin, and had potpourri in it. It was made by a woman who lives in my area.
I like science fiction and fantasy books, plus some mysteries. I like to scrapbook, although I haven't done any for awhile. I wanted to get some more supplies - pens that are safe, and a photo cutter (I can't cut straight!).
I'm tired and starting to babble mentally, so I'll quit now. If my person wants more details, they can e-mail a third party to ask me or use an e-mail that won't give away their identify.
Oh, yeah ... I wouldn't mind a CD - especially Christmas music and/or something in either German or Spanish. I took both in high school but didn't practice after that. My younger daughter wants to learn German (she's 8) and I wanted to refresh my Spanish. Last year I got a CD of Christmas songs in Spanish - some are traditional English songs and some are traditional Hispanic songs (going by ethnicity here, not nationality). Anyway, Christmas songs in either language would be really cool. My favorite CD of Christmas music is Christmas on the Border, but then I don't have very many Christmas CDs.
That's enough babbling for now, I guess. I've got to head off to bed now. And I didn't even get to play the Sims2 tonight.

I sent out the package tonight. I'm a little because I didn't get a single thing the person I got asked for... I did try to get cute things I thought said person would like, though. And I liked them.
I hope my giftee does...

Yay! Several people e-mailed me that they got their person, AND several people signed up for Round Two. Round Two closes Thursday night, I think, so I can send e-mails out on Friday before the weekend so y'all can shop or sew or cook or crochet or emboss or smith or whatever y'all want to do to create the present.
So, if you didn't sign up for the first round, e-mail me at katepilkington AT yahoo.com before Thursday midnight, and you're in.

Hey wait! We can do handmade gifts?? If someone is willing to accept a handmade gift I'd love to participate, but I assumed from the lists I've been seeing that making something was out of the question - hence I didn't sign up for Round 2. Let me know!

I know of at least three people who are making their presents, and a couple others who are giving food, I think. It is NOT supposed to be something expensive (and with the ball-park figure being ten dollars, it really can't be) - I think thoughtful and quirky are much higher values for this. Send me an e-mail for Round Two.

I have to tell you, I've never been so swamped with e-mail in my life. Not even during the flirting stages with The Comet during sophomore year of college.

Ok, so I suppose now that I'm in I should give an indication of what kinds of things that I like. I think my LJ wishes entry will give some clear direction (LJ is in my profile). But pretty much I like everything.
space opera, who is very excited about the gift exchange now

kat, if you want lots of emails, try running a Mafia game from Hatrack. That'll keep things hopping in your Inbox for several weeks.
I'm pushing to get my package in the mail by Friday. Plague has hit the house, and all of us are sick. I'll keep the germs here and just send goodies. But it'll almost certainly be Friday before I get the package out the door.

I would love something handmade or partly so, like something printed out from the internet and decorated up. I'm quite cool with non-homemade, but I do prefer used over new. I like the well-loved feel. St Vinnie's is my friend.

Hey Sara, I've been meaning to ask you... you heard anything from Leonard Cohen's son yet? He doesn't have Daddy's voice, but his narrative arch is quite fun...
Low Millions is the name of the group... Adam Cohen is the front-man and main songwriter. They have a single, Eleanor, that's getting a lot of airtime around here. I liked the attitude of it enough to buy the disc, and while it's not a favorite it's quite nice.
