semi gratz enigmatic. 4) is "An American Tail" the first movie in the series, Fievel Goes West was its sequal.

1) is a Chinese movie called "To Live" or "HuoZhe" I never get tired of watching that movie. Be warned it is a VERY sad story, but it tells a very important story. I recommend it to anyone.

TheGrimace: No there are not many films but many people have never seen The Mission regardless.

I pass the torch to SenojRetep.

1) Of course you don't know. You don't know because only I know. If you knew and I didn't know, then you'd be teaching me instead of me teaching you - and for a student to be teaching his teacher is presumptuous and rude. Do I make myself clear? Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

2) God made the angels to show Him splendor, as He made animals for innocence and plants for their simplicity. But Man He made to serve Him wittily, in the tangle of his mind.

3) If I didn't have puke breath, I'd kiss you. The Adventures of Bob and Dough MacKenzie:Strange Brew

4) I've got the most scathingly brilliant idea!

5) Wish you'd stop bein' so good to me, cap'n. Cool Hand Luke

6) My cat can eat a whole watermelon. Rubin and Ed

7) You think I am brave because I carry a gun; well, your fathers are much braver because they carry responsibility, for you, your brothers, your sisters, and your mothers. And this responsibility is like a big rock that weighs a ton. It bends and it twists them until finally it buries them under the ground. And there's nobody says they have to do this. They do it because they love you, and because they want to. I have never had this kind of courage. Running a farm, working like a mule every day with no guarantee anything will ever come of it. This is bravery.

8) I miss him every day. I loved him like I've never loved a guy. And I don't love guys. You don't have an excuse, you quit. You quit, you gave up. He never quit on anything 'til it killed him, and that was his way, and there's much worse ways, and boy you sure found one. Always

9) You offend reason, sir. I should like to offend it with you. Peter Pan

10) What do they think I am? Dumb or something? Why, I make more money than - than - than Calvin Coolidge! Put together! Singin' in the Rain

11) Lord... whatever I've done to piss you off... if you could just get me out of this and somehow let me know what it was I promise to rectify the situation. Maverick

12) Oh, she is my dear, my darlin' one / Her eyes so sparklin', full of fun / No other, no other / Can match the likes of her. Darby O'Gill and the Little People

13) If he had guts to knock Mom cold once, then maybe she'd be happy and then she'd stop picking on him. Because they make mush out of him! Just mush!

14) Self-realization. I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, when he said, "I drank what?" Real Genius

15) -Anyway, David, when they find out who we are they'll let us out.
-When they find out who *you* are they'll pad the cell. Bringing up Baby

16) -I was thinking later, you could kiss me on the veranda.
-Lips would be fine. Three Amigos

17) I can hear you whisperin' children, so I know you're down there. I can feel myself gettin' awful mad. I'm out of patience children. I'm coming to find you now.

18) Now, the problem is, how to divide five Afghans from three mules and have two Englishmen left over. The Man Who Would be King

19) Edwina's insides were a rocky place where my seed could find no purchase. Raising Arizona

20) Can I borrow your towel for a sec? My car just hit a water buffalo. Fletch

I'd actually typed in An American Tail first, but then thought that the birds being referred to were probably vultures or similar, so changed it. Trust your instincts!

I LOVE Darby OGill and the Little People. Reminds me of the Gnome Mobile, one of my favorite movies when I was a kid. Right up there with Escape to Witch Mountain (the original).

8. Always

16. Three Amigos

Wish I would have gotten here sooner, I would've been all over that Maverick quote.

I'm sorry, I guess I made this list a little too arcane. A couple of these, though, I'm surprised no one's been able to guess. Here are some hints:

2) (Additional Quote)Why Richard, it profits a man nothing to give his soul for the whole world... but for Wales?

3) (Additional Quote)Yeah. OK, well, uh, we found, uh, this mouse in a bottle of YOUR BEER, eh. Like, we was at a party and, uh, a friend of ours - a COP - had some, and HE PUKED. And he said, uh, come here and get free beer or, uh, he'll press charges.

4) I didn't know Haley Mills was Catholic!

7) This movie is a re-casteing of a Japanese movie, and was in turn re-caste (or, perhaps, parodied) by another movie on my list.

13) The dad spoken of in this quote is played by one of the cast members from Gilligan's Island.

15) Classic slapstick comedy from the 30s involving mistaken identities...of two leopards.

17) The main character in this movie has two antonyms tattoed on his knuckles.

Second round of clues (any ungotten by noon tomorrow will be revealed and I'll pass the torch to whomever is in the lead):

2) A fictionalized account of Sir Thomas More (MrSquicky would get this if he were around).

4) See Rosalind Russell as a nun!

7) Features many of the cast from The Great Escape, plus Yul Brenner!

13) Defines teenage angst in the 50s. Last film (of three total) for the main actor, who died shortly thereafter in a car accident.

17) The main actor from this movie starred in the similarly creepy Cape Fear (the original, not the remake).

Well, I'm going to call it a round. Congratulations, dantesparadigm.

I didn't realize some of these older movies would be that obscure. Sorry.

Final Scores:
dantesparadigm = 5
Lyrhawn = 2
Narnia = 2
Tante Shvester = 2
Vadon = 2
Goody Scrivener = 1
Seatarsprayan = 1
The Grimace = 1

Ungotten quotes:

2) A Man for All Seasons (I could give unofficial credit for this to fugu, who obviously knew)

4) Trouble with Angels: a very sweet story with Haley Mills as a wildchild at a Catholic school and Rosalind Russell as the long-suffering Mother Superior.

7) The Magnificent Seven: remake of the classic Japanese movie "Seven Samurai" and the inspiration for "Three Amigos." Great movie.

17) Night of the Hunter: Set in Depression Era mid-West, Robert Mitchum stars as a creepy itinerant preacher who leaves a string of murders in his wake.

Heh, I originally guessed "Giant" after reading the clue, then reread the 50's teenage angst part, and promptly got very confused for a moment. Doesn't help seperate them out that his three movies were about a year or year and a half apart.

Yay! I won, now that I finally got a chance to get at them first. Anyway, I'm not sure where these are on the difficulty scale, they're all pretty popular movies, so we'll see.

1) That's thirty minutes away. I'll be there in ten.

2) - Good morning, Sergeant Major.
- How do you know what kind of goddamn day it is?

3) If you get a customer, or an employee, who thinks he's Charles Bronson, take the butt of your gun and smash their nose in.

4) I was the equivalent of a 98lb weakling. I would go to the beach and people would kick copies of Byron in my face.

5) Five thousand of my men are out there in the freezing mud. Three thousand of them are bloodied and cleaved. Two thousand will never leave this place. I will not believe they fought and died for nothing.

6) A shepherd must tend his flock, and at times, fight off the wolves.

7) Oh, and Senator, just one more thing, love your suit.

8) Yeah, sir, you might want to send a maintenance man over to that office across the way. The lights are off, and they must be looking for a fuse box, 'cause them flashlights, they keep me awake.

9) A lot of holes in the desert, and a lot of problems are buried in those holes. But you gotta do it right. I mean, you gotta have the hole already dug before you show up with a package in the trunk. Otherwise, you're talking about a half-hour to forty-five minutes worth of digging. And who knows who's gonna come along in that time? Pretty soon, you gotta dig a few more holes. You could be there all night.

10) Any man with a collection like this is a man who's never set foot on a battlefield. To him a minie ball from Shiloh is just an artifact. But to a combat vet, it's a hunk of metal that caused some poor bastard a world of pain.

11) It's a ‘Jump to Conclusions mat’. You see, you have this mat, with different conclusions written on it that you could jump to.

12) The key to a woman's heart is an unexpected gift at an unexpected time.

13) Probably. But it's an easy fix. One line of dialogue. 'Thank God we invented the... you know, whatever device.'

14) That woman deserves her revenge and we deserve to die.

15) -That was way easier than I thought it would be.
- Aye.
- On TV you always have that guy that jumps over the sofa...
- And then you've got to shoot at him for ten minutes.

16) I don't recall him ever having mentioned a rabbit

17) A lordship and titles. Gold. That I should become Judas?

18) You're smart. I like you. I'll probably give you a nickname.

19) Hey, Ryan, be careful what you shoot at. Most things in here don't react too well to bullets.

20) AK-47. When you absolutely, positively got to kill every *expletive deleted* in the room, accept no substitutes.

Incidently like 4 of those were on the list I've got waiting for when I finally get a chance to post it... blast now I have to rewrite it.

Perhaps a suggestion for the next round? Maybe have it so that at any one time you can only post three quotes you know. Then you either have to wait for someone else to post or wait an amount of time (say... 15-30 minutes?)

That way there's more competition and the person who sees the new list doesn't get the 'easy one!' advantage quite as badly.

Oh, and I think the idea of a maximum number of films guessed per hour is a good idea. However, I think it should be up to whoever is posting the list (and thus administering that round) to set specific rules for their list.

I agree that letting the person posting the list post the rules is a good idea.

You could perhaps assign point values to each quote based on how hard you think it would be to know. That might now work too well but hey who knows?

Oh, you have to know Lyrhawn. He doesn't go to sleep until at least 3 am, so he probably won't wake up for a while. Either that, or he's working. But still, I think it's time for another list of movie quotes, mixed up or not.

Alright, in the sense of fairness, I'm going to let someone else do this round. I have maybe a fourth of a list done, for what I want to do, but I don't want to make the hardcore movie quote guessers wait for me to finish.

So, SteveRogers was second in the last round, I pass it on to him. I'll try and win another round later on, and in the mean time I'll work on my list.

Sorry for making you wait guys.

Someone else make a list. I already went twice.

Edit:
